Re.engineer Magazine - Summer 2021

What advice would you give to young professionals or students?

In everything you have accomplished, what are you most proud of?

I urge students and young professionals to start locally, think universally, and move intentionally towards their dreams. First, write down the vision of your life. Next, plan your careers and goals around the vision. Then, write daily steps for each goal. You just recently released your documentary, "Exploding Dreams: A STEAM Story". What do you hope to gain from this exceptional piece of work? With the documentary, I hope to inspire those who are from the inner cities and underrepresented communities to “explode” into their dreams. The documentary serves as a model and perspective on how I navigated in the world of education and chemistry.

I am most proud of serving as a trailblazer and a model for others who want to achieve their goals with courage. I am grateful to have access to opportunities that took my career and life to the next level.

What keeps you up at night?

Thoughts of innovations in STEM education, clean energy, or contributions to sustainability are the things that currently keep me up at night. I have a passion for solving problems. ▪
